Eastern Rat Snake

Pantherophis alleghaniensis

Average size:  40-70 inches; Record 90 inches.  Young are 11-17 inches at birth.

Range:  Florida peninsula.

Diet:  Rodents and birds.

Status: Common

Found near hardwood hammocks, pinelands, swamps, prairies, marshes, residential areas, and agricultural fields.

This is the Yellow Rat Snake and its intergrades.
