Average size: 14-20 inches; Record 26 inches.
Range: Found throughout the peninsula and into the eastern panhandle. They are not found in the keys.
Diet: Mainly crayfish.
Status: Common. They are found in sawgrass prairies, cypress strands, canals, sloughs, sphagnum bogs and swamps.
